I’ve just witnessed one of the most amazing performances in my life!
Last night, my husband and I attended our first show by Cirque Du Soleil at the Von Braun Center. It was incredible. For years, I have been hearing the great things about Cirque Du Soleil Ovo and I must say the show didn’t disappoint.
From the very beginning, Cirque Du Soleil captured my attention with the characters vibrant colors and many acrobatic acts. It was unexpected yet intriguing to see art imitate life through insects.
Ovo is a love story about a ladybug and an insect from different backgrounds who meet and fall in love. Originally, the insect stumbles in a foreign village of insects and they steal his egg (Ovo). While attempting to recover his egg this fabulous ladybug catches his eye -and the feeling is mutual.
This actually makes for quite a hilarious show to keep the family entertained throughout the other 9 acts in the show. Check out a few of my favorite scenes below:
The kiwi themed girls were the first act of the show and stole my husband’s heart. The Asian girls were able to propel kiwi’s half the size of their body and catch them with their feet in complete harmony. I loved how confident they were with their balancing stunts while maintaining a smile.
This duo had to be the highlight of my night. I have never seen two people move so gracefully and completely in sync with each other. You could feel their passion they had for one another and the audience was mesmerized by their scene.
I was a bit nervous during this scene but the children sitting next to me enjoyed it. They “ooh” and “ahh” as the performer rode a unicycle upside down on his chin.
Overall, words cannot describe the beauty and visual art. Cirque Du Soleil Ovo was by far one of the most amazing shows I have ever witnessed and it has something for everyone. My first show was filled with an evening full of surprises, laughs, athleticism and love. What more can a girl ask for? Please don’t miss this opportunity to check it out for yourself.
