She Thrifts: Lorna Remy

New month.  New thrift style.  Check out the founder of Thrift Academy as she schools us on how “She Thrifts.”

How would you describe your personal style?

Ever-Changing. It depends on how I’m feeling. As of now I can say I’m into the minimalistic trend. Less is more and thrifting is perfect to finding one of kind pieces that still follows today’s trend.

What do you think is the biggest trend this season fashion wise?

I think the biggest trends this season will be the trench coat, the biker jacket, faux fur and over the knee boots. These items are sure to bring out an outfit and set a thriftanista apart from the rest of the group.

What are 3 things every thrifter should have in their wardrobe?

I think every thrifter should own a leather jacket, a crisp white-button down and a great pair of dark denim.

Where do you tend to thrift your clothes?

My main reason for thrifting is individuality. I cannot stand going out to events or looking on social media and seeing people wearing the same things similar to clones. I like to express myself and it feels great knowing no one will be wearing my outfit because it’s thrifted.

Do you have any fashion rules you follow when putting your thrifted outfits together?

My number one rule is “Never dress how you feel, dress how you want to feel” I try to mix my thrifted items with high and low end pieces.

What is the most expensive item that you have purchased while thrifting? Do share!

The most expensive item I ever purchased while thrifting is a vintage Dooney & Burke bucket bag for $25.

What tips can you give readers on how to be successful in thrifting?

Have an idea of what you are looking for. Always bring inspiration whether it’s on your phone, pictures or a friend. Also go as often as you can. Items are constantly going out on the floor and you don’t want to miss out on key statement pieces.

  1. The question was Where do you tend to thrift your clothes? Your response answers why? So, can you tell us where you tend to thrift?
